So Chris and I were watching comedy central the other day. There was a comedian who said that women have the ability to make their husbands think that they're retarded. Thus getting them to agree with whatever or believe whatever they say. One of the jokes was that women probably lay awaking looking at their husbands at night while they are sleeping, gapping mouth and snoring and think to themselves “How did I end up here with that?” He went on to say that the women could probably punch the husband at anytime, waking the husband up, and make him believe that it didn’t happen, you know because they are retarded. I tell you that story to tell you this story.
So the last few nights, for whatever reason, I have not been sleeping. Finally last night I fell asleep without any problems and was enjoying my deep slumber. Typically I am a very sound sleeper and have never assaulted my husband while sleeping. (The same cannot be said for him) Anyway, apparently I had turned over facing him and stretched my arm out to either slide under my pillow or his, which is something I typically do. However, he was closer to me then I knew and being 75% asleep still I ended up punching him, at this time I was unaware of where I had punched him. I remember lying there for a second and thinking “did I really just punch him?” (A little giggle escaped my lips) He didn’t say anything so I figured it wasn’t that bad.
The next morning I new something was wrong because he typically kisses me goodbye when he leaves for work. Today he didn’t. I text him asking if he was mad at me, he said, “YES”. I asked him “Why” and he replied by saying, “Because you punched me in the face!” Apparently he thought that what I did was intentional. He thought that he had been snoring and I had, had it and punched him. Thanks to Mr. Comedian this has been in the back of his head not helping my case. Because I had been so tired I was unaware of everything that had happened. Apparently after I had punched him and giggled he had sat up and asked me if I had just punched him? While giggling I had told him “No” then I started to pet his head and told him to go back to bed. So with him wide a wake and knowing exactly what had happened but not knowing that it was not intentional he became very mad. From 1am-7am he continued to get more and more irritated.
I explained to him that if that punch had been intentional it would not have happened while I was lying down. I would have made sure to be standing squared up with him so that I would be able to put the weight of my body into it. I also informed him that I would defiantly do it in a well-lit area so that I would be able to see the expression on his face. Finally, I informed him that over 6 years I have been hit, kicked, elbowed (in the face) while sleeping thanks to him. Through all this time I have never been angry with him because I knew that it was unintentional. This was the only time I have ever done this and he couldn’t handle it. He finally realized that I was not lying about it, being unintentional, and apologized.
This is the end of my story. Hope it brought you a little bit of happiness.
